Kev McCrae is Executive Creative Director at Factory Fifteen, helping shape the studio’s creative vision, growth strategy and ambitions across immersive experiences, entertainment and emerging technologies.
His career began at Cinesite, where he got his hands dirty from day one, working across film operations, projection and the tracking department on major feature productions. The experience provided a practical understanding of filmmaking and production long before stepping into creative leadership roles. He later joined Firecracker Films, contributing to broadcast and documentary productions before moving into animation, visual effects and experiential design.
In 2011, Kev founded Playdead, the studio that would evolve into Revenant a decade later. Over the following years, he built the company into an internationally recognised creative studio, delivering award-winning work across film, broadcast, gaming, branded content, visitor attractions and large-scale immersive environments.
A storyteller at heart and entrepreneur by instinct, Kev has spent more than two decades turning ambitious ideas into world-class experiences.
His portfolio spans some of the world’s most recognised brands, broadcasters and entertainment companies, including Riot Games, Netflix, BBC, Oakley, Disney, National Geographic, Qiddiya, the European Space Agency and MIT.
Career highlights include Oakley’s globally acclaimed Future Genesis campaign, Netflix’s Apollo 13 documentary, Life Beyond Earth for the Venice Biennale alongside SOM, ESA and MIT, immersive experiences for Cheddar Gorge & Caves, and destination-scale entertainment developments for Qiddiya, one of the most ambitious projects of its kind ever undertaken.
Under Kev’s leadership, Revenant received recognition from BAFTA, the Collision Awards, RTS Awards, Scottish Design Awards, New York International Film Awards and numerous international competitions. Oakley’s Future Genesis was awarded Best in Show at the Davey Awards, becoming one of the studio’s most celebrated projects.
At Factory Fifteen, Kev is focused on advancing the next generation of audience experiences, exploring how AI, real-time technologies and emerging media can unlock new possibilities across entertainment, culture and the built environment.
Whether developing a cinematic campaign, cultural installation, visitor attraction or destination-scale experience, his objective remains the same: create work that resonates, endures and inspires.
