We need to show Great Britain's industrious heritage in PAST, PRESENT, FUTURE for the Dubai World Expo.
‘We Are Energy’ is an animated triptych mural by Factory Fifteen. Commissioned by the UK Government, the artwork forms part of the UK Pavilion, designed by Asif Khan, at Astana Expo 2017. The artwork celebrates British innovation, creating a unified and animated landscape of a past, present and future Britain. The triptych interweaves three animations played on a loop. Scenes of industry, transport, and energy production unfold from the industrial revolution to a city of the future.

Illustrating the landscape.
We created 2 main illustrations that outlined where the content would go on a newly designed British Isles map, that would then be animated. This was used as a singular ‘storyboard’ before entering production.
Designing Britain's illustrious technological achievements into one interconnected landscape mural through time was an incredibly fun challenge. We loved watching people notice hundreds of innovations like a giant where's wally.

Asif Khan designed the space in which this mural was exhibited. The murals were projected across a 5-meter area and enjoyed by thousands of visitors.
Factory Fifteen came up with so many ideas and executed an incredibly detailed and rich design that rewarded intense and repeat viewing.
