BRIEF
A new city for northern Riyadh needs a defining piece of cinema to help win the competition.
We created a package of visualisation material centered around a 1-minute cinematic film for the North Pole project in northern Riyadh. The film focusses on the new developments approach of breaking the grid of the city, moving towards a more wadi-influenced naturalistic masterplan, along with integrating 3d printing technologies, and innovative use of architectural monuments for inner city cooling.
MAKING
A film following how nature and wind shapes a city.
Our film as storyboarded below, follows the wind as it filters through the gridded Riyadh city, before it explodes in all directions as a new city, sculpted by nature, is born.
RESULT
A monumental film for one of the biggest urban development competitions on the planet.
We produced 13 images and a 1-minute film for this stage 2 competition for SOM for the Saudi Government. We also generated over 15 additional stills upscaled from the film to great effect in the submission. The project is currently in tender.
The clarity in how Factory Fifteen colaborated with us on this one was second to none, providing weekly updates to the film, giving us greater insight into their amazing process in crafting their films.
